This long-established Kumamoto city restaurant has been in operation since 1881 – the 14th year of the Meiji era. The sukiyaki, already considered a Kumamoto specialty, is Kansai-style. Its secret broth is made from over ten ingredients, and really draws out the authentic Wagyu beef flavor. The restaurant is also reputed for its excellent shabu-shabu, which can be enjoyed with home-made sesame sauce and ponzu. A butcher’s shop operates in the same premises, so its accessible price also attracts customers. The lunch they serve is particularly good value.
